St. Martin: The Dual-Nation Island

St. Martin Vacation Rentals & Luxury Villa Rentals St. Martin

St. Martin is a two-nation island with a unique mixture of cultures. St. Martin, the French side, and St. Maarten, the Dutch side, share what is known as the most peaceful border in the world.

Besides the breathtaking views, beautiful hang out spots, the beaches, and incredible shopping, there is so much that makes St. Martin a dream destination. The rich history of the island is a goldmine for history enthusiasts, while the warm azure water will wash your cares away.

While in St. Martin, it’s only natural to indulge in water sports and get your adrenaline pumping. Try your hand at windsurfing, jet skiing, kayaking, surfing, flyboarding or sailing and discover which water activity is right for you! In addition, the deep blue waters are teeming with fish and other marine life that you can swim among while snorkeling or diving.

Several luxury Key Caribe villas are located in close proximity to St. Martin’s shimmering shores. Be sure to book your favorite before they fill up!

When you’re ready for a break from the water, discover the island’s flora and fauna on a nature hike. Climbing up Pic Paradis, the island’s highest point, may be challenging physically, but the magnificent views are worth it. Pony trekking, biking, and golfing are also favorite activities among tourists and locals.

The Best Time To Enjoy Luxury Villa Rentals in St Martin

Late May to mid-November is the rainy season in St. Martin, which means it’s the low season for tourists. Nevertheless, traveling to the Caribbean during the low season can have major perks! Temperatures remain consistent, and although it’s technically hurricane season as well, it’s rare to be caught in a major storm.

However, if you want to avoid even the slightest chance of rainy days, book your trip from December to mid-April. Just keep in mind that this is the time when crowds are at their highest.

Expert Tips:

Many people wonder which side of the island is best to visit. There’s St. Martin, the French side, with its delicious French cuisine and adventure-packed activities. Then there’s lovely Dutch St. Maarten, boasting lively beach bars and a lush Botanical Garden. Here’s our suggestion: spend some time in both! Crossing the border is a cinch, and in most cases there is no need to show a passport. People and goods can travel in and out freely.

MUST SEE AND DO

Top Regional Activities:

  • Sailing is ingrained into St. Martin’s culture. There are deep-sea fishing tournaments and sailing regattas all year long. In addition, Key Caribe can help you secure diving excursions or charter a boat.
  • Carnival celebrations take place every year on both sides of the island. In St. Martin, pre-Lent festivals begin in February, while post-Easter celebrations take place in Sint Maarten in April.
  • The beautiful, fascinating city of Simpson Bay on the Dutch side is home to a mysterious lagoon. The nearby town of Maho is a popular spot for nightlife and casinos.
  • Don’t miss Maho Beach if you’re on the Dutch side of the island. It’s famous for its proximity to the airport and the tendency of planes to fly directly over the beach, creating thrilling “plane-spotting” and picture taking opportunities.
  • Other top things to do in St. Martin include a visit to the Sint Maarten Museum for a glimpse into island history, duty-free shopping, and a trek up to Fort Louis.
