Blue Bay Hotel Curacao The Garden bungalows

Hello. First I would like to say that the property was nicely maintained, and we thoroughly enjoyed the pool and the beach. We would consider staying again because the Bungalow that we rented was great for 4 people. In the spirit of helping to make this a location we would rate as a 5 star we are responding. Where it fell short was in the kitchen. We enjoy eating in the unit and it would have been great if the kitchen was better equipped and, if there was a barbecue. The kitchen needed a tea pot, a blender, a regular coffee pot and more kitchen utensils. The refrigerator also leaked but we just dealt with this with towels. We had a child with us so we spent evenings in our unit. A larger tv with better resolution and a washer and dryer so we didn’t need to bring as many clothes would have been great. The unit needed a good cleaning. The floor was quite dirty and it needed a good dusting. Also we ordered the starter food package and it wasn’t there when we arrived. This was quite disappointing however your representative did rectify this within a couple of hours. On the 2nd last day of our visit I sent a request asking if we could stay for a few extra hours. I never received a response. In summary, the location is great as are the employees that clean the rooms and welcome us into the resort. The small details are what would make the difference.

We really enjoyed our stay at Blue Bay, the Golf course is the centre piece which is surrounded by magnificent houses, villas and bungalows; The snorkelling and swimming is also of a very high standard and I enjoyed the Turquoise clear water daily. The bungalow at the gardens( Number 12) Was in dire need of airing and a bloody good clean, there was NO view and the patio area was poor at best. Kitchen utensils were cheap and in short supply and we were greeted by ants all over the kitchen surfaces. The resort which is set over acres and acres of land, is well looked after but would not be suitable for anyone with any walking issues. There is NO LOCAL SHOP and NO complimentary shuttle service so you would either need to hire a car or pay taxi fares. I do feel if you offered a shuttle service a few times a day this would be a great advantage to your customers and yourselves. The evening restaurant is on the beach, which was 1.27 miles to walk from the bungalow, it was very dark by 18.30pm and the lighting is poor and surfaces uneven. We would return very happily to this beautiful part of Curacao but I would not call it a Luxury resort or Bungalow. Competition for customers is tuff in the travel industry and you must improve your service to your clients. You recommend Max, the taxi driver, but we had worrying issues with both the arrival and departure transfers; you wanted to take NO responsibility when he didn’t turn up for our departure. There are also issues with the photographs which you are so proud of on TripAdvisor!! Our bungalow bore no comparison, which is surely some kind of advertising trick!!

Our stay started off shockingly bad but ended off great as we were able to upgrade our accommodation to a different place entirely and at no extra charge thanks to Carmela. She was attentive & understanding of the situation we were in and very helpful. Re. Blue Bay Garden Bungalow, our original booking — We feel that the photos in the listing are not a fair representation of the Blue Bay Bungalow. There should be a clause in the description that clearly states the photos may not represent the exact bungalow guests may be assigned to. Also those photos must’ve been taken a fairly long while ago as everything in the resort/rooms are.. tired looking. It should also mention there is no AC in the living room. The only ACs are in the dimly lit bedrooms that barely have windows.. probably not a place we would recommend to friends..

If there was disclosure that the ad in VRBO this was a resort, I would never have booked it, if I knew it was in a resort setting! Their advertisement in VRBO does not disclose such info. I only found that out when I reached the gate. Booking part was easy, but getting arrival information was impossible. A couple emails I sent to Key Caribe to ask for check in procedures and was told they sent me arrival info email already. I tried to explain that I couldn’t find any arrival related info. The so-called “arrival info” email was nothing but selling excursions. No driving instruction from airport to the property. No information on going through “security gate” in order to enter the premises. Since I didn’t know my unit so the guard refused to let me through. I had to dig through my emails to prove I did H have a booking. Plus long queue to reach the gate so it took me more than 10min to get through. No instruction as how or where to get access key. I had to ask guard where to go to check in. First thing the front desk asked was my unit #, again, of course I had no answer. Mosquitoes n flys are rampaging, so be prepared to have plenty of repellents n buy lots of mosquitoes coils, if you want to open doors n windows for air. Not even a single fan was provided in the living area (no a/c), so you are at your own risks if you open the doors for air. Not a single cleaning product in kitchen n no supply of bathroom toiletries. Walked to front desk twice n asked for face washing cloth, but no one ever showed up with it. So, it’s a “resort”, right? There’re tennis court, fitness center, a very small patch of beach (10min walk) with lounge chairs n umbrellas. But until my departure I still have no clue whether those facility are included in the rental. Housekeeping is great, so it earns the one star. The bungalow itself earns one star. I have been using HomeAway (VRBO) service more than 15 years and this is definitely my worst experience. I will never use anything listed by Key Caribe nor will I return to this place!

I regretfully send this feedback because it will encourage everyone to stay here and it will be difficult to book for my future visits! Everything was great, the place is as pictured, the grounds are as pictured and everyone was a great help through the process. Thanks again!
