Barbados the Caribbean paradise

For many travelers, Barbados is one of those special places that keeps them coming back, year after year. With spectacular white sand beaches and sparkling turquoise surf, a vibrant local culture and bustling city vibe, this island is unlike any other in the Caribbean. From rum shacks to fish markets, lush, tropical mountains and wild, deserted coastline, Barbados is a destination that’s pretty hard to beat. Here are 7 reasons why we can’t seem to stay away.

1. Beaches for all

barbados-leamington-pavilion-23It’s not on every island that you find beaches for every type of traveler, but Barbados has all the bases covered: All along the posh West Coast, the water is clear, shallow and calm. Protected from the wind, these shores are ideal for families with small children. On the South Coast, the water is a bit livelier and wavy, perfect for diving or for those who are just learning how to surf. For strong swimmers and seasoned surfers, there’s no better place to be than Bathsheba, a rugged part of the East Coast on the Atlantic. Unspoiled surf for miles, this is truly a big wave paradise.

2. Oistins Fish Fry

Every Friday night, locals and tourists alike head to Oistins, a fishing village on the South Coast for their informal weekly celebration of food, music and drinks. With many vendors to choose from, just look for the one that has the biggest crowd and take your pick of what was caught fresh that day. Top off your grilled or fried fish with a local Banks beer, life doesn’t get much better.

3.Spa Indulgence

The only thing that rivals a relaxing day at the spa is a relaxing day on the beach. Why not have both? The Indulgence Spa at Royal Westmoreland right on Mullins Beach–said to be one of the best in the Caribbean–will take island relaxation to a whole new dimension. Everything you might expect from a traditional spa is available, from skin wraps to scrubs to full-body massages, but the Exotic Coconut Rub & Milk Ritual wrap will leave you in a state of pure Caribbean bliss.

4. Rum shops

A fundamental part of Bajan culture, rum is the drink of choice for many islanders, and rum shops can be found almost everywhere you go. But this isn’t the clear white liquid you mix with a Coke (although you certainly can); drinking the local rum here is more like savoring a good scotch– straight up with some ice on the side. Deep, flavorful, caramel colored and complex, if you weren’t a rum fan when you arrived, you will be before you leave.

5. Tip Top Cuisine

the-cliff-001-gareth-sambidge-cropThe food scene in Barbados is a cut above. With a strong local food culture as well as as lots of European influences, there are plenty of food options for all tastes and budgets. Aside from the popular local food chain Chefette (for the best rotis around), and the famous flying fish sandwiches at Cutters, there is also amazing Indian food at Aspara Samudra, incredible Italian at Cin Cin’s and for a very special evening, The Cliff is one of the top restaurants in the whole Caribbean.

6.Take a Zip

In the Walkes Spring Plantation in St Thomas Parish, you’ll find high-flying vacationers exploring the island’s treetops. A fan-favorite for those looking for an adventurous day out,Aerial Trek Zipline Adventure’s 100-feet course is a surefire way to get well-acquainted with nature on the island. It doubles as a crash course in the island’s ecosystems too, as the knowledgeable guides describe the plantation and its friendly inhabitants as you take off from each of the 8 different platforms. And if you’re looking for an extra-entertaining Christmas card photo this year, the staff is ready and willing to snap pictures of excited zip-liners.

7. Private Villas

barbados-leamington-pavilion-20There’s no better way to experience the island than within the comfort of your own private villa. With the freedom to explore Barbados and all its charm at your leisure, you can take a day to lounge by the pool or relax with a book on the beach, then head out to dinner, or have something prepared by a top local chef right in the comfort of your home.

The warm sea that provide these shorelines with the blazing Caribbean sun hitting the ocean floor. Creating the beautiful colors that the water displays.St_Martin_Villa_Chateau_des_Palmiers_671_01bDreams can become a reality if you’ve ever dreamed of a villa on the beach, you’re not alone. Popular with celebrities, villas on the beach provide the privacy you need and are ideal for multi –generational family reunion, spectacular wedding celebrations, business meetings or trips of a lifetime.

You too can be jetting off to a tropical paradise in the Caribbean, this is not just for the likes of Barack Obama or Richard Branson (we’ve all seen those pictures and loved it!). Romantic days near the Beach

“Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around. You tell them things that you’ve never shared with another soul and they absorb everything you say and actually want to hear more. You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you. When something wonderful happens, you can’t wait to tell them about it, knowing they will share in your excitement. They are not embarrassed to cry with you when you are hurting or laugh with you when you make a fool of yourself.

Going on vacation with your new partner is the best way to get to know each other and finding out if they are the one. Romantic days near the beach, candlelight diners, adventures and dancing lowers the wall people build around to show their true selfs.

Just like Valentine day gives people the courage to tell the one that make their harts beats faster how they really feel.

Happy valentine from Key Caribe

What Is the Worst Time of the Year to Go to the Caribbean?

What Is the Worst Time of the Year to Go to the Caribbean?

Source: USAtoday

http://traveltips.usatoday.com/worst-time-year-caribbean-106942.html

There’s really no bad time to travel to the Caribbean, but some times may be better than others. The worst time to go depends on what you want to avoid most. Winter is the heaviest tourist season, while weather at other times of the year varies significantly.

Tourist Season

Winter is the busy season throughout most of the Caribbean. Prices soar and many attractions are crowded. Some places even sell out at times, especially around the holidays. Some travelers enjoy the crowds and the fact that everything is open all the time, but if this is your idea of a lousy vacation, then any time from December to April would be the worst time for you to visit.

Other Seasons

Caribbean beaches are relatively pleasant throughout the year, so there are plenty of other times to consider visiting. However, traveling between March and November has its own disadvantages. While prices are significantly lower and crowds are much thinner, there are also fewer services available than during the peak season. Hotels, attractions and even transportation can be more limited for the rest of the year. If you prefer to have as many options as possible, avoid the off season.

 Summer

Aside from the prices, summer is the worst time for most people to visit the Caribbean. The weather can be uncomfortably hot and muggy at the best of times. More important, summer is also the hurricane season. The risk of hurricanes is especially high in August and September. Even if none occur, this time of year is the most likely for tourist destinations to be closed. Unless you’re more interested in local culture, there’s not much reason to visit during the summer.

 When to Go

The best time to go to the Caribbean mostly comes down to avoiding the worst times. To skip the tourist season and the worst of the hot and rainy weather, plan a trip for spring or fall. November may be the best choice for most travelers, since you can avoid spring break crowds and get away from late fall weather at home, while still beating the winter rush.

Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival

The 7th edition of Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival (CNSJ) took place on September 1, 2, and 3, 2016

As the opinions are divided how great this edition was doesn’t matter. Curacao had a lot of fun with artists like Chris Brown,Tom Jones, Jamie Cullum, Betty Wright, Level 42 and the Cuban Affair on Friday

North SEa Jazz

Al lot of tourist came from all over the world and a lot of them booked with Key Caribe. It was a fun but really busy week with all the vacation villa’s and hotels on Curacao fully booked due to Curacao North Sea Jazz Festival.
Al lot of customers that booked their vacation villa with Key Caribe booked their rental car with Curva Car rentals.

As always this event gave the tourism of Curacao a real boost and showed how great the Caribbean can be if we had more of these events during the year. With all respect of course for events like Sulegria, Fuikdag, Amenisia and Full Moon party but they are mainly based on the dance scene. CNSJ has a variety of music genres and doesn’t only bring great artists to Curacao but also brings the spotlight for a week on an island that is fairly new to tourism.

Cupecoy-Beach-St-Maarten1

Everybody knows about Sint Maarten for the luxury and Aruba for the nice beaches but Curacao also has so much more to offer. Curacao has a lot to learn when it comes to service and hospitality but with the experience of the other islands of the Dutch Antilles they will get there.
As the week started you could feel the tension rising for the event. Hato airport was busy and the streets of curacao where really full with traffic jams.
All the radio stations where talking about the artists and had games to win tickets for the event. You could here all the songs by the artist and start enjoying yourself in the car waiting for the artists to arrive on Curacao and perform the songs live.

Thursday was the kick off for the event. This day was a free event and 10000 local persons and a lot of companies on Curacao received a ticket.
The persons that bought a ticket for the whole event also got a ticket for the free concert on Thursday.

The show started with Kassav.
They started it with so much energy nobody could stand still. Everybody was dancing and singing along with their famous songs. By bringing their favorite carnival music with a modern twist, influenced by, among others, rock, this zouk genre touched everybody on the Caribbean.

After Kassav the fun wasn’t over. I took a short break and went to the food stands that offer local cuisine, fried plantin, stewed beef but also simple food like hamburgers, chicken skewers and hotdogs. Then Juan Luis Guerra came and conquered the evening with his famous songs for the third time on Curacao.

North Sea JAzz

Chris Brown had all the young people dancing to his songs on Friday and Lenny Kravitz rocked the stage on Saturday. But what many considered the best act was Michael Bolton. He gave a tremendous show on Saturday. People were swarming to the stage and there were so many people still coming in that they had to close the doors and other stayed outside the hall watching the screens and singing along. In my opinion he gave the best show out of the whole weekend.

Every year in August/ September CNSJ takes place and we will be there again next year, enjoying all styles of music, the island and the great atmosphere. I advise you to come down to and enjoy music the Curacao way.

St. Martin Heineken Regatta

Breathtaking, romantic, soothing, serene, relaxing..

These are the words that come to mind at the mention of Sint Maarten (pronounced Cint Marteen). If you’re looking for an ocean-side paradise with stunning views, rich culture, fabulous weather and incredible food, you’ve found it. With miles of glistening beaches and warm, crystal clear, torquoise water, Sint Maarten is a spectacle of its own.

If you’re a history buff, marvel at the colonial architecture as you saunter along the cobble stone streets or take in the stone forts that guard the coastline and enjoy a cocktail as you watch the sun arc across the sky.

If you’re an adventurer, you have unlimited options to explore from scuba diving and surfing to wakeboarding, 4-wheeling, hiking and zip-lining across the majestic landside. You can charter a boat and go marlin fishing or grab a glass-bottomed kayak and spend an afternoon swimmimg and watching tropical fish. St Maarten is a watersports afficiondo’s heaven with hundreds of possible activities including jet-skiing, kayaking, fishing, hang-gliding and kite-boarding.

Or perhaps, you’re more of a sailor and prefer the adreneline rush of cresting over giant waves, the gale at your back, the spray of the waves, warm water lapping at your cheeks. If that’s the case, you won’t want to miss the 36th Heineken Regatta, taking place next month, March 3rd to 6th. This spectacular event combines sailboat racing with intense celebration and is considered by many the largest regatta in the Caribbean.

So far there are some 120 boats registered with over 2000 sailors competing across four courses. According to the event director, registration will continue until just before the races and they expect a showing of some 200 boats in all. Last year, the event attracted captains from some 36 different countries and was incredible, this year will be absolutely amazing.

If you have a boat and you want to get in on the action, its not too late. If you can’t bring your boat in time, don’t fret, there’s still chance to register as part of the crew of a head boat. This late in the game you probably won’t get a spot on Scarlet Oyster, last year’s Regatta class winner, but there are many more options. For more info on getting into a head boat, check out http://www.heinekenregatta.com/boats_for_charter.php

Equally as exciting as the racing itself are the partes afterwards. Well known for their excesses, and lasting well into the night, the parties inlcude nightly concerts with many thousands of people. Past acts have included the super-popular hit band, the Black Eyed Peas. In fact, last year, Kool and the Gang showed up and upstaged everyone.

This beautiful island paradise is actually a merge of two distinct cultures, the Dutch colony Sint Maarten, inhabiting one half of the island and the French colony, Saint Martin, along the other, both of which share rich history in their fight for control of the island. Nowadays, visitors can enjoy the merge of French, Dutch and Caribbean culture, music and food – in fact, some say it is the culinary capital of the Caribbean – a place for gourmets to satiate their palates with a fusion of Caribbean and European flavors.

This incredible islalnd also has several Vegas-style casinos and there are hundreds of restaurants, clubs and discos to get your groove on and there are several boutique malls for high-end shopping and duty-free merchandise. Whether you’re coming to relax or explore or be to be adventurous or to enjoy the Regatta and its parties, St Maarten is where you want to be. It’s unimaginable. It’s paradise.

Christmas in the Caribbean

It’s almost time to put the rake away and bring out the shovel. Winter has arrived, and Christmas is hot on its heels. Already, the familiar tunes are playing in the stores, and the staff has stocked the shelves with gifts and wrapping, ornaments and trinkets.
We all love Christmas; for many of us, it’s the one moment each year we can spend time with our loved ones. It’s a time for eggnog and carols, good food, another log on the fire, smiles and laughter. It’s a time to enjoy each other’s company and give thanks for all we have.
On the other hand, we all abhor Christmas too. The rush, the stress. If you haven’t already begun your gift shopping, you’ll be in for a real treat these final two weeks with packed stores and clogged checkouts, snarled parking lots and mile-long traffic jams.

This year, why not treat your family to something different?

Wouldn’t it be great if you and your family could spend some quality alone time, bonding?
